Attending the agreement ceremony were Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Kim Kwang-ho, and Seoul Autonomous Police Committee Chairman Kim Hak-bae. Through this agreement, Seoul will provide safety items for the safe daily lives of citizens, and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will select and distribute the Jikimi sets to crime victims and those at risk of victimization. The Jikimi set consists of a portable SOS emergency bell and a safety alarm. Starting from the end of this month, the sets will be distributed at the Crime Prevention Response Departments of 31 police stations in Seoul and local police stations. The distribution targets are victims and those at risk of stalking, sexual crimes, domestic violence, dating violence, and other crimes. Crime victims who have reported incidents to 112 and had cases registered will be supported after confirming their willingness during counseling and investigation. For those visiting police stations for counseling due to concerns about crime victimization, the counseling police officer will assess the risk and decide whether to provide support.
Additionally, the two organizations agreed to cooperate on ▲ information exchange to prevent dangerous situations such as abnormal motive crimes ▲ joint policy development related to building a safe Seoul through crime prevention. After the agreement ceremony, a field demonstration of the portable SOS emergency bell will be held at Seoul Plaza. The demonstration will proceed in the order of crime occurrence → activation of the portable SOS emergency bell → text message transmission and 112 report → police dispatch.
Kim Kwang-ho, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said, "We will actively promote citizen-centered and field-centered police activities based on on-site organizational restructuring," adding, "We will do our best to create a society where citizens can feel not only safe but also secure." Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon emphasized, "We will spare no support or effort for the safety of Seoul citizens," and added, "In particular, we will continue to practice walking together with the vulnerable by strengthening safety policies for vulnerable groups such as women."
