Daegu City announced on the 22nd that it formed the 'Daegu City Joint Pavilion' at the 2023 MEDICA International Medical Device Exhibition in D?sseldorf, Germany, and achieved a total of $7.71 million in local contract performance by supporting the participation of local companies.
Under the supervision of Daegu Technopark, the city set up the Daegu Joint Pavilion at the 'MEDICA 2023 International Medical Device Exhibition' held in D?sseldorf, Germany from the 13th to the 16th, supporting local companies' participation and achieving a total of 466 export consultations worth approximately $19.11 million and export contracts totaling $7.71 million.

In addition, companies such as CSM Implant, JS Techwin, Endovision, Sesin Precision, Purvis Korea, Micro N-X, Edplus, Shilla System, X-Cube, Airs Medical, and Intin also took part.
The MEDICA 2023 International Medical Device Exhibition, held annually in D?sseldorf, Germany since 1969, is the world's largest medical device exhibition. This year, 5,513 companies from 71 countries participated. In Korea, 313 companies including Daegu Technopark, Daegu Gyeongbuk Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation, Korea Medical Device Cooperative, Korea Health Industry Development Institute, Gangwon Technopark, Gimhae Biomedical Industry Promotion Agency, and Wonju Medical Device Techno Valley participated, engaging in various activities to enter the global market.
Among the participating companies, Fine Medics, a Daegu City Free Start-up company, signed contracts worth a total of $2.5 million with companies from the UK, Japan, and others for endoscopic surgical instruments. One Day Biotech promoted cosmetic products such as implants and fillers, signing contracts worth $880,000 with companies in Germany and Romania, and secured new clients in the North American region. Nanum Company, a specialist in surgical cannulas, was recognized for its excellent technology by overseas buyers and achieved export contracts worth $730,000 with companies in Kuwait, UAE, and other Middle Eastern countries.
Additionally, X-Cube and Shilla System, which introduced AI-based CT and X-ray image reading platforms, received great interest from European and Middle Eastern buyers for their technology applying IT to diagnostic medicine. Other participating companies also conducted active consultations, signing substantial contracts and brightening prospects for future overseas market entry.
Daegu City plans to operate a Daegu Joint Pavilion at the Arab Health exhibition in Dubai in January next year to support local medical device companies in pioneering overseas markets.
Choi Un-baek, Director of the Future Innovation Growth Office of Daegu City, said, “Supporting participation in the MEDICA exhibition joint pavilion, where the latest global medical device trends can be seen in one place, was a great opportunity to promote the excellence of Daegu’s medical device products and enhance global competitiveness. We will continue to actively support participation in overseas exhibitions to foster the advanced healthcare industry, one of Daegu’s five future new industries, and to help local medical device companies with excellent technology enter overseas markets.”
