On the 30th, Mayor Lee Gang-deok of Pohang received a plaque of appreciation from the Korea Social Welfare Mutual Aid Association for his contributions to improving the treatment of social welfare facility workers.
Mayor Lee Gang-deok of Pohang is receiving a plaque of appreciation from Kang Seon-gyeong, Chairperson of the Korea Social Welfare Mutual Aid Association, on the 30th.
원본보기 아이콘Kang Seon-gyeong, Chairperson of the Korea Social Welfare Mutual Aid Association, along with four other officials, visited the mayor's office at Pohang City Hall that morning to express their gratitude for supporting projects aimed at improving the treatment and human rights of social welfare facility workers.
At the presentation ceremony, Kang Seon-gyeong, Chairperson of the Korea Social Welfare Mutual Aid Association, Lee Hyeong, Chairperson of the Pohang City Social Welfare Council, and Kwon Dae-geun, Chairperson of the Pohang City Social Workers Association, attended to present the plaque of appreciation and discussed ways to cooperate for the development of the social welfare sector.
Pohang City was the first among the 22 cities and counties in Gyeongbuk Province to promote a support project for the "Government-supported Group Accident Mutual Aid Insurance" for social welfare workers. Since 2016, the city has supported an insurance premium of 10,000 KRW per social welfare worker, with 6,451 people from 517 facilities currently enrolled.
Mayor Lee Gang-deok stated, “Improving the treatment of social welfare workers and enhancing welfare will improve the quality of welfare services and increase citizens’ perception of welfare.” He added, “We will continue to seek welfare system measures to improve the treatment of social welfare workers, such as supporting accident insurance premiums, through mutual cooperation between the public and private sectors.”
