It has been confirmed that Kim Tae-woo (42) of the group god, who used a private ambulance to move to an event venue five years ago, received a summary order with a fine of 5 million won.
According to Yonhap News and the legal community on the 16th, Kim took a private ambulance from Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do to an event venue in Seongdong-gu, Seoul in March 2018. It was confirmed that the event agency paid the 300,000 won ambulance fee at the time.
Accordingly, the prosecution filed a summary indictment against Kim in March this year for violating the Emergency Medical Services Act, imposing a fine of 5 million won. The court issued a summary order with a fine of 5 million won in August as charged by the prosecution, and since Kim accepted it without requesting a formal trial, the fine was finalized on the 5th.
The private ambulance driver A (44), who drove Kim to the event venue, was tried for violating the Emergency Medical Services Act and was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and fined 2 million won. A was also charged with driving a private ambulance 23 times without a license from August 2021 to March last year, despite having his license revoked after being caught driving under the influence.
The court stated the sentencing reason, saying, "A knew that his driver's license had been revoked but persisted with unconvincing excuses," and "Considering his prior offenses such as drunk driving, strict punishment is necessary."
Upon the news of this incident, Kim apologized through his agency OK Company on the same day, saying, "I admit my fault without any excuse and deeply reflect on it."
He said, "I am sorry for causing concern and disappointment to many people because of this incident," and "I will be careful so that this does not happen again. Once again, I sincerely apologize and bow my head."
The agency also stated, "Kim admitted his fault during the investigation and sincerely cooperated with the investigation. He deeply reflects on this matter," and "We sincerely apologize once again for causing concern to many people due to this incident, and we will strive to be more careful in managing our artists so that such incidents do not cause worry again."
