Ulsan Eggs OK!... All Passed Pesticide and Antibiotic Tests

Ulsan Health and Environment Research Institute, Targeting 9 Laying Hen Farms

"You can safely eat Ulsan eggs."

The Ulsan City Health and Environment Research Institute announced on the 22nd that eggs produced at laying hen farms in the Ulsan area were collected and tested for harmful residues such as pesticides and microorganisms, and all were judged to be "suitable."

This inspection was conducted to confirm the safety of edible eggs and to preemptively block the distribution of unsuitable edible eggs, as egg consumption increases during Chuseok and the risk of food poisoning rises.

Edible eggs produced at nine local laying hen farms were collected and tested for 70 types of harmful residues (34 pesticides and 36 antibiotics), three types of Salmonella bacteria, foreign substances, deterioration, and spoilage.

The test results showed that all nine farms were deemed suitable, indicating that the eggs are safe to eat.

An official from the Health and Environment Research Institute said, "We will do our best to ensure that clean livestock products are produced and distributed by strengthening safety inspections so that people can safely consume eggs, while also promoting and guiding producers on livestock product safety."

The Health and Environment Research Institute plans to continue securing the safety of eggs, a representative food item, by conducting egg monitoring at distribution stages such as traditional markets, large supermarkets, and edible egg collection and sales businesses until October.
