Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold a commemorative event on the 26th at 2:30 PM at the COEX Auditorium, inviting about 1,000 local senior citizens to celebrate the 27th Senior Citizens' Day.

‘Senior Citizens' Day’ has been designated as a legal holiday on October 2nd every year since 1997. The district prepared the ‘Silver Concert’ to reflect on the meaning of Senior Citizens' Day and to promote the spirit of respect and filial piety towards the elderly.

The event will proceed with ▲pre-ceremony performances ▲Part 1: commemorative ceremony and award presentation ▲Part 2: congratulatory performances. Starting with a Taekwondo performance by the K-Tigers demonstration team, Part 1 will present awards to a total of 23 exemplary senior citizens and contributors to senior welfare. In Part 2, famous trot singers such as Kim Yong-im, Kim Su-chan, and Yang Ji-won will perform congratulatory shows.

Additionally, in October, the month dedicated to honoring the elderly, senior festivals will be held in 22 neighborhoods of Gangnam-gu. These neighborhood-specific senior festivals, held at designated local venues with community residents, aim to express gratitude for the hard work of the elderly who have contributed to community harmony and regional development, and will feature a variety of events tailored to the preferences of local senior citizens.
