On the 13th, the city signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the activation of water-saving projects with KT Commerce, a Water Saving Company (WASCO), at the city hall’s mid-sized conference room.

Through this MOU, Pohang City plans to lead the promotion of water-saving projects and practice ESG management by replacing water-saving facilities such as first-grade dual-flush toilets in public facilities, and by complying with regulations mandating the use of water-saving equipment. KT Commerce will diagnose the water usage status of the city hall main building and provide technical support related to the installation of water-saving facilities.

Starting with this agreement, the two organizations will actively cooperate to distribute water-saving facilities and conduct water-saving campaigns in public facilities such as the city hall and district offices, so that the practice of ESG values can spread throughout the Pohang region.

Cho Chang-hwan, CEO of KT Commerce, emphasized, “Through the water-saving project, we will actively support not only economic benefits within the region but also becoming a model case for ESG practice. We will build a collaborative system with Pohang City to expand the water-saving project.”

Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “We will promote improvements to Pohang City’s water usage facilities through this agreement to use limited water resources efficiently and practice water saving. We will also strive to spread public consensus so that a water-saving culture practicing carbon neutrality can be established within the region.”
