Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam Province will begin accepting applications for transportation welfare cards at the administrative welfare centers in each eup, myeon, and dong district of the applicant's residence starting September 1, following the implementation of the free city bus transportation support policy for seniors aged 75 and older, effective October 2.
The transportation welfare card is available to seniors aged 75 or older who are registered residents of our city as of the application date. Those wishing to receive the card must bring their ID and visit the administrative welfare center of their residential district on the designated weekday corresponding to their birth date to apply and receive the card immediately.
Seniors who receive the card can use all city buses in Changwon (including regular, direct, and village buses) free of charge up to 8 times per month starting October 2. Each ride, including up to 2 free transfers, counts as one use. For those who wish to use city buses more than 8 times per month, they can recharge cash on the card at nearby convenience stores (Seven Eleven, CU, GS25, Ministop) and use it accordingly.
A fee of 4,000 KRW will be charged for reissuing the card in case of loss or damage, and any cash balance on the card will not be refunded. Additionally, if the card is found to be transferred or lent to others, it will be confiscated and issuance will be suspended for one year, so users should be cautious when using the card.
Je Jong-nam, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, stated, “We are pleased that this free city bus transportation support policy for seniors aged 75 and older will allow seniors to use city buses more comfortably. We will continue to strive to activate related policies in the future.”
