Masan Fish Market has long been a place where visitors line up to eat gizzard shad, and the gizzard shad festival was first held in 2000.

From the 3rd festival onward, the name was changed from Masan Fish Market Gizzard Shad Festival to Masan Fish Market Festival, continuing to the present.

The Masan Fish Market Festival is recognized as a representative seafood festival of Changwon City, attracting not only residents of the province but also visitors from other regions and foreigners, making it a nationwide festival.

On this day, Mayor Hong said, "I congratulate the holding of the Masan Fish Market Festival and thank the citizens who visited the festival despite the discharge of contaminated water from Japan," adding, "I hope people trust our city, which strives for safe food, and consume seafood with confidence."
