Busan City Conducts Joint Safety Inspection for Corporate Taxis

Busan City will conduct a joint safety management inspection of corporate taxis together with district and county offices, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and the Taxi Transportation Business Association from the 28th of this month to September 22nd.

This inspection is being carried out to prevent safety accidents involving corporate taxis and to enhance the convenience of taxi users.

The inspection targets 4,767 vehicles from 48 corporate taxi companies, excluding those with excellent vehicle management based on last year's safety inspection results.

The main inspection items include ▲ compliance with automobile safety standards and illegal structural modifications related to safe operation ▲ condition of vehicle body management such as registration plates and tires ▲ passenger convenience facilities (seats, air conditioning, interior filters, cleanliness, etc.) ▲ illegal vehicle maintenance ▲ and illegal use of taxi meters.

The city plans to take administrative actions such as fines against taxi companies found violating regulations during this inspection in accordance with relevant laws.

Last year's inspection resulted in administrative actions including fines, improvement orders, and restoration for 89 cases of violations such as breaches of safety standards and negligence in tire and license plate management.

Jung Im-su, Director of the City Transportation Bureau, stated, “We will continue to conduct ongoing inspections of commercial vehicles so that citizens can use taxis safely and comfortably. We will also carry out inspections of maintenance and inspection-related companies to do our best to prevent safety accidents.”
