Sangju City held the final briefing session for the "Sangju Secondary Battery Cluster Industrial Complex Development" research project on the 21st at the city hall's main conference room, attended by about 30 people including Mayor Kang Young-seok, City Council Chairperson Ahn Kyung-sook, and Chamber of Commerce Chairman Kwon Taek-hyung.
This briefing session was the final review meeting for the report, which comprehensively reflected the secondary battery promotion policies, infrastructure establishment and utilization plans, and corporate demand surveys initiated in August last year. It presents the future vision for the development of Sangju City's secondary battery industry and includes mid- to long-term strategies from policy and technical perspectives.

It aims to create an innovation ecosystem through the activation of industry-academia-research collaboration, workforce training, and fostering small and strong enterprises.
An official from Sangju City stated, "We plan to obtain residents' consent around September, proceed with detailed design next year, and begin land acquisition. The completion is expected around 2029. The project cost will not come from the budget but is expected to be developed privately through a special purpose corporation."
Mayor Kang Young-seok of Sangju said, "To secure competitiveness in the rapidly changing domestic and international secondary battery market and support companies that can lead high value-added advanced industries, we will establish differentiated strategies and execution roadmaps and actively promote projects linked to national initiatives to attract companies and investments, thereby successfully developing the industrial complex."
To ensure the successful development of the industrial complex, Sangju City signed a business agreement with SK Eco Plant in February and formed a T/F team for the secondary battery cluster development. They are making thorough efforts to promote the industrial complex development, including securing development consent forms for prompt project advancement.
