At around 7:24 PM on the 5th, a taxi driving in the wrong direction at Seokjeon Intersection in Masanhwoin-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, collided with a passenger car and a city bus in succession.
According to Masan Eastern Police Station and Changwon Fire Headquarters, the taxi driven by a man in his 70s, Mr. A, was driving against traffic from the Sanbok Road direction and, while turning left toward Seokjeon Intersection, hit a passenger car that had started moving after the signal and then collided with a city bus.
As a result of the accident, a male passenger in his 50s riding in the taxi died, and Mr. A was seriously injured.
The bus driver in his 50s and three passengers, as well as the passenger car driver in his 50s and two passengers, sustained minor injuries to their heads and chests.
The accident vehicles blocked the road, causing traffic to be controlled for a while, but after the vehicles were towed, two-way traffic is reported to be flowing smoothly.
The police plan to hold a follow-up meeting chaired by the chief of Masan Eastern Police Station once the road clearance and other safety measures at the scene are completed.
