Authors who posted messages threatening to commit murder against unspecified individuals on online communities have been apprehended by the police.

원본보기 아이콘On the 5th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that as of 12 a.m. that day, they had arrested three additional authors who posted murder threats on online communities. The total number of suspects arrested for posting murder threats is now five.
A man in his 20s, Lee Mo, who posted on an online community on the 24th of last month that he would kill 20 women at Sillim Station on Wednesday, was sent to prosecution under charges of intimidation. Additionally, the author who posted a message stating "I will kill one woman in the Sillim area tonight" was also apprehended by the Cyber Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
The author of a threatening post that appeared after the stabbing incident at Seohyeon Station in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, was also caught. On the 3rd, the author who posted "I will carry out a stabbing rampage at Hanti Station at 10 p.m. tomorrow" on an online community expressed their intention to surrender to the police. Two other authors who posted messages the previous day stating "I will kill everyone at Wangsimni Station at 4 p.m. today" and "I will kill five people at the main gate of OOO" were also arrested.
A police official stated, "Irresponsible posting of threat messages causes anxiety among citizens and wastes police resources, so we urge restraint," adding, "We will concentrate all our capabilities to swiftly apprehend those involved in such acts and impose severe criminal penalties."
