A cow being transported in a cargo truck to a slaughterhouse ran through the city and was caught after 7 minutes.
On the afternoon of the 3rd, around 2 PM, a beef cow escaped from a slaughterhouse in Unsu-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju.
At the time, the cow was loaded on a 1-ton cargo truck heading to the slaughterhouse when it escaped and ran through the middle of a city road.
The cow ran about 650 meters along a four-lane one-way road and entered a warehouse site in Sochon-dong, Sochon Industrial Complex.
When police and firefighters who were trying to capture it locked the warehouse door, the cow was caught without much resistance.
There were no casualties or damage to vehicles or facilities during the cow’s run through the city.
Later, a farm official arrived at the scene, put a leash on the cow, and loaded it back onto the cargo truck to take it to the slaughterhouse workplace.
The cow was on the loose for about 7 minutes.
On the 26th of last month, a 500kg female cow aged 50 months was rescued from a pond beside a roadside in Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam. This cow had escaped from the Hapcheon Livestock Cooperative auction on the 15th and was found 11 days later.

Meanwhile, on the 15th of last month, there was an incident in Hapcheon, Gyeongnam, where a 50-month-old cow escaped after being loaded onto a truck to be moved to an auction site.
When the cow ran away, a livestock cooperative official contacted the fire department, and police also began searching. They were alert because an agitated cow encountering people or cars could lead to dangerous situations, but only footprints and droppings were found, and the cow could not be located.
Then, on the 26th, 11 days later, the escaped cow was found by a pond beside the road leading to its barn, about 3 km from the auction site. It was reported that the cow was leisurely grazing at the time.

The cow’s owner decided not to put the cow up for auction and to continue raising it. Accordingly, the cow, safely rescued at the scene, did not head back to the auction site but returned to the barn where it had lived.
