Pohang City Receives Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation for Comprehensive Local Government Health Promotion Project

Nam-gu and Buk-gu Health Centers Receive Top Excellence and Excellence Awards in Health Promotion Project Plan Evaluation

On the 7th, the Nam-gu and Buk-gu Public Health Centers of Pohang City were selected as excellent local governments in the "15th Local Government Health Promotion Project Plan Evaluation Comprehensive Division" at the 2023 Joint Performance Conference for Local Governments held at The-K Convention Center in Seoul. Nam-gu Public Health Center received the Grand Prize, and Buk-gu Public Health Center received the Excellence Award, both receiving commendations from the Minister of Health and Welfare.

On the 7th, Nam-gu and Buk-gu Public Health Centers were selected as outstanding local governments in the '15th Local Government Health Promotion Project Plan Evaluation Comprehensive Division' at The-K Convention Center in Seoul. Nam-gu Public Health Center received the Grand Prize, and Buk-gu Public Health Center received the Excellence Award.

The 2023 Joint Performance Conference for Local Governments was organized to create momentum for revitalizing health promotion projects and achieving results in regional health care plans. It aimed to activate close-contact projects through awarding outstanding local governments by sector and sharing best practices.

The Community Integrated Health Promotion Project is implemented targeting local residents to promote healthy lifestyle practices, prevent chronic diseases, and manage the health of vulnerable groups. It is an integrated health promotion project that provides programs and health management services reflecting the characteristics of the community and the needs of residents.

In particular, this award from the Ministry of Health and Welfare was established to evaluate the 2023 plan establishment in the comprehensive division of the integrated health promotion project and to assess the 2022 best practices in the strategy division. It was designed to review and enhance the planning capabilities of public health center personnel in promoting health projects, who have been fully committed to responding to COVID-19 over the past three years.

Kim Jeong-im, Director of Nam-gu Public Health Center, said, “Following the declaration of the COVID-19 endemic, we will focus on improving health behaviors not only for chronic diseases but also for potential risk groups by enhancing self-health management abilities, striving to create a safe and vibrant healthy city of Pohang free from diseases.”

Park Hye-kyung, Director of Buk-gu Public Health Center, said, “We will actively discover and promote integrated health promotion projects necessary for local residents and work harder to improve the health level of the community and foster a healthy local atmosphere.”
