Assuming an Electric Vehicle Fire Incident Inside the Government Building

Joint Actual Emergency Evacuation and Fire Suppression Drill with Geumcheon Fire Station

Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) conducted a comprehensive fire drill for Geumcheon-gu Office employees on the 26th.

This drill was conducted assuming a fire broke out in an electric vehicle parked in the parking lot inside the government building. To enhance the professionalism of the drill, it was carried out jointly with Geumcheon Fire Station.

In particular, the fire suppression team of the Geumcheon-gu Comprehensive Government Building’s Self-Defense Fire Brigade focused on learning response skills by directly using the ‘underbody water monitor (a nozzle that sprays water upward to suppress battery heat under the electric vehicle)’ and the ‘smothering extinguisher’ used for electric vehicle fire suppression.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, explained the purpose of the drill, saying, “As the supply rate of electric vehicles is increasing recently, concerns about electric vehicle fires are also growing, which led to planning this drill.” He added, “Through this drill, we will strengthen employees’ initial response capabilities to create a safer Geumcheon-gu Office.”
