Suncheon-si Introduces Jeonnam's First Artificial Intelligence (AI) Chatbot System

AI-Based, 24-Hour Customized Service Provision

Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it will introduce an AI-based chatbot system, the first of its kind in Jeollanam-do, to provide citizens with 24-hour customized civil service response.


The AI chatbot system is a technology that provides desired information by conversing with users in a chat format. It is a system capable of simple consultation guidance for city administration inquiries, civil service applications, and various facility reservation services.

To introduce the AI chatbot, the city has completed research on other local governments' operational cases and reviewed the detailed menu composition of the Suncheon chatbot system. Development began in June, and the service is planned to launch in October.


The first phase (2023) project, launched this year, is a chatbot service construction project equipped with information provision functions focused on simple civil complaints and inquiries such as passport application procedures, Suncheon Love Gift Certificate merchant guidance, and waste disposal methods.


The second phase (2024) project plans to advance the existing chatbot system by linking it with other systems to enable one-stop civil service applications directly within the chat window, including civil service applications, various facility reservations, and course registrations.


A representative from Suncheon City’s Digital Policy Division stated, “With the introduction of the chatbot system, we will strive to provide citizens with convenient administrative services such as saving time through 24-hour rapid and prompt civil consultation.”
