The National Library of Korea is holding a contest from July 3 to August 4 for library and cultural institution workers nationwide, university (graduate) students, and organizations to submit ‘Library Innovation Ideas and Outstanding Field Cases.’
The theme is ‘Personalized Library Services in the Era of Hyper-Personalization.’ In modern society, where generational distinctions and characteristics such as Alpha, MZ, and New Senior are clear and individual interests are diverse, the contest aims to explore the role of the ‘K-Library approaching the people.’ Proposals related to library operation and utilization activation are also freely accepted.
After the first round of document screening and the second round of face-to-face evaluation, a total of eight winning entries will be announced in early September. One grand prize winner will receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award and a prize of 2 million KRW; two excellence award winners will receive the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award and a prize of 1.5 million KRW each; and five encouragement award winners will receive the National Library of Korea Director’s Award and a prize of 1 million KRW each.
The awards ceremony will be held at the National Library of Korea’s 78th anniversary commemorative cooperation seminar scheduled for October.
Kim Kyung-nam, Head of Planning at the National Library of Korea, stated, “As library user segmentation and diversification of information needs accelerate, developing services and content tailored to situations and purposes has become increasingly important. Through this contest, we hope to see many diverse ideas and field cases that help predict users’ latent needs and provide optimal library services.”
