Gyeongnam National University has been selected for the ‘2nd Cycle University Lifelong Education System Support Project (LiFE2.0)’ organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education.
This project builds on the achievements of the 1st cycle LiFE project (2019?2022), which worked to create an adult learner-friendly university culture, aiming to expand adult learners' access to universities and support the advancement of lifelong education systems within universities.
The project types include ▲Lifelong Education System Establishment ▲Lifelong Education System Advancement ▲Metropolitan Local Government Linkage, among which Gyeongnam National University has achieved the distinction of being the only university in Gyeongnam selected for the ‘Lifelong Education System Establishment’ category.
Accordingly, from June 2023 to May 2025, Gyeongnam National University will receive a total of 2 billion KRW over two years to support the enhancement of adult learners' capabilities through higher education, including the establishment and operation of dedicated departments for adult learners.
Going forward, Gyeongnam National University plans to realize lifelong education that reflects the needs of the local community and industry, centered around the slogan ‘Happy-4-You, UOK,’ which embodies the commitment to responsible higher lifelong education until everyone is satisfied, focusing on ‘Happy Families, Happy Communities, Happy Jobs, and Happy Old Age.’
To this end, the university will establish the ‘Future Life College’ and open six departments: Lifelong Education Counseling and Childcare, Local Creator, Leisure Life Business, Business Consulting, Total Beauty Design, and Active Senior, recruiting freshmen starting from the 2024 academic year.
President Park Jaegyu stated, “With this project selection, Gyeongnam National University has taken a step forward as a higher lifelong learning platform university that brings happiness and inspiration to the region, and as a ‘Regional Lifelong Education Center’ representing the area. We will do our best to realize the ‘Higher Lifelong Learning Platform University’ by providing customized competency development and systematic support so that local adult learners can lead happy, vibrant, healthy, and beautiful lives.”
