The perpetrator of the 'Sergeant Baek Seon-gi Murder Case' that occurred 21 years ago has been revealed to be Lee Jeong-hak (52), who was also the culprit in the 2001 Daejeon Kookmin Bank robbery and murder case.
The Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency announced on the 22nd that Lee Jeong-hak was the murderer of Sergeant Baek in 2002.
The Sergeant Baek murder case is one of the representative long-unsolved cases. Sergeant Baek was found stabbed with a weapon on the morning of September 20, 2002, but the weapon used in the crime and Sergeant Baek's .38 caliber gun were not found at the time, so the case was classified as a long-term unsolved case. The investigation gained momentum in March when Sergeant Baek's missing pistol from the time of the incident was discovered.
