Kim Eun-kyung, the newly appointed Innovation Committee Chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, mentioned that she would "revolutionize the vested interests of incumbent lawmakers in the nomination process." In response, Cho Eung-cheon, a non-Myeong (非明) faction member of the Democratic Party, pointed out that one cannot help but suspect "a script has been written to move toward the abolition of the delegate system."
On the 22nd, Cho said on MBC's "Kim Jong-bae's Focus," "We need to look at in what ways the Lee Jae-myung leadership failed to perform its role properly. Why suddenly bring up nominations?"
Earlier, Chair Kim emphasized that she is neither pro-Myeong (親明) nor non-Myeong, stating, "I will revolutionize the vested interest system represented by incumbent lawmakers in the nomination process." However, Cho pointed out, "The core issue is how the Democratic Party under Lee Jae-myung's leadership has been over the past year, the evaluation and diagnosis, and the prescription for that. But suddenly talking about nominations and calling incumbent lawmakers vested interests to break them down?what is that about? Doesn't that connect to things like abolishing the delegate system?"
In response to the host's question, "Do you see this as a script already written?" he said, "Yes," adding, "One cannot help but strongly suspect that this is the case."
Regarding the composition of the Innovation Committee, he said, "No matter what you say, it seems insufficient to completely erase the pro-Myeong label to truly innovate," and added, "There seem to be traces of that (pro-Myeong) here and there. It's difficult to say officially, but such traces appear little by little."
He continued, "It seems that Lee himself may not have a direct connection, but there is suspicion that there might be an indirect one," and said, "Based on the publicly available records, there have been actions or statements related to Lee's side in various ways."
