At around 7:03 a.m. on the 22nd, a tire of a tanker truck traveling toward Suncheon burst near the 41 km mark close to Hadong Interchange (IC) on the Namhae Expressway in Jingyo-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam.

According to the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency Highway Patrol and the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, the vehicle was carrying 25,000 liters of landscaping oil, and due to the impact of the accident, tire fragments struck the tanker, spilling about 40 liters of landscaping oil onto the road.

The driver in his 40s, who was driving in the second lane of the highway, quickly pulled over to the shoulder immediately after the tire was damaged, preventing any casualties or further damage.

Police and fire authorities who responded to the driver's report removed all the spilled oil from the road surface.

At the scene, 36 personnel including firefighters and a special response team, along with 10 pieces of equipment, were mobilized to manage the accident.

The oil from the damaged tanker will be transferred to another vehicle and transported to its destination.

The police and the highway corporation are investigating the exact cause of the accident, believing that the tire burst after running over an object on the road while the vehicle was in motion.
