Police University Korea Police History Institute and Honam National Defense Memorial Hall Joint Academic Symposium Held

'Reexamining the 6·25 Battle History of Honam Region'

Lee Eun-jeong, Director of the Korean Police History Research Institute at the Korean National Police University, announced on the 22nd that a scholarly forum was held in collaboration with the Honam National Defense Memorial Hall.


The Korean Police History Research Institute at the Police University and the Honam National Defense Memorial Hall held an academic forum at 1 p.m. that day at the Honam National Defense Memorial Hall located in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, under the theme "Re-examining the Battle History of the Honam Region during the Korean War." They discussed topics such as "Battle History and Air Force Operations in the Honam Region" and "Police Combat and Anti-Guerrilla Operations."


Kim Soon-ho, President of the Police University, stated in his congratulatory remarks, "Discovering new historical materials related to the Korean War and publicly sharing research results is a fundamental duty to inherit the history and spirit of those who dedicated themselves."


Director Lee also presented on the topic "Anti-Guerrilla Operations of the Southwest District Combat Police Unit ? Focusing on Key Figures," announcing, "As a result of analyzing newly discovered important materials on the killing, capture, and defection of guerrillas, frontline police stations responsible for local security and familiar with the geography of their jurisdictions showed better performance."
