Lithium Plus Launches Ultra-High Purity Lithium Hydroxide for All-Solid-State Batteries

Lithium Plus announced on the 21st that it has launched an ultra high purity (Ultra High Purity) lithium hydroxide product with 99.999% purity for all-solid-state batteries and has provided samples to all-solid-state battery material companies.

All-solid-state batteries are lithium secondary batteries in which the electrolyte between the battery cathode and anode is entirely solid, unlike current lithium-ion secondary batteries that use liquid electrolytes. They are expected to be the next-generation dream batteries due to their high energy density and low risk of ignition.

Currently, overseas companies from Japan, the United States, and domestic companies are accelerating prototype production to dominate the all-solid-state battery market. Lithium hydroxide used as a material for all-solid-state batteries is known to require higher purity compared to lithium hydroxide used as a cathode material in current lithium-ion secondary batteries.

The ultra high purity lithium hydroxide for all-solid-state batteries, which Lithium Plus has successfully mass-produced this time, has a purity of 99.999%, meaning that the total impurity content excluding pure lithium hydroxide components must be controlled below 10 ppm (parts per million).

A company official stated, "Even when compared with products from major global companies, this corresponds to the highest level of purity among lithium hydroxide currently mass-produced," adding, "We hope that the launch of this ultra high purity lithium hydroxide will help improve the competitiveness of domestic all-solid-state battery material companies."

With the success of this new product development, Lithium Plus now mass-produces two types of products: lithium hydroxide for conventional lithium secondary battery cathode materials (99.995% purity) and lithium hydroxide for all-solid-state batteries (99.999% purity).

A company representative said, "Through the mass production of ultra high purity lithium hydroxide, we will strive to dominate the lithium hydroxide market for all-solid-state battery materials in the future," and added, "In addition to the current two products, we will further diversify our product lineup by expanding into anhydrous lithium hydroxide, lithium chloride, and other products, aiming to become a leading comprehensive lithium materials company."
