Starbucks explained that through the Oh Happy Day campaign, they planned the event to create a happy day like a birthday for shelter animals whose exact birthdates and places are unknown, and to spread interest and positive awareness about shelter animals.
On the day of the campaign, customers who purchase over 20,000 KRW excluding MD products at The Bukhangang R branch will receive one birthday card per amount spent, given to the first 200 customers on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, all customers who write a birthday card will be randomly awarded various prizes such as Starbucks tumblers.
For each birthday card written by customers during the campaign, 1kg of nutritious snacks for disease prevention for shelter animals will be matched and donated to Animal Freedom, with up to 200kg donated on the day.
Starbucks opened The Bukhangang R branch in January 2022 and created a pet park where customers can visit with their companion animals. In cooperation with Animal Freedom, Starbucks has donated 100 million KRW to support shelter animals, conducted adoption campaigns, pet etiquette campaigns, and various other campaigns to promote positive awareness of shelter and companion animals, aiming to spread a proper companion animal culture.
Jo Heekyung, CEO of Animal Freedom, said, "We hope to create joyful memories with shelter animals through the Oh Happy Day campaign," and added, "We hope that positive awareness of shelter animals will expand through various campaigns with Starbucks."
Song Miseon, Operations Team Leader of Starbucks Korea, said, "We are pleased to participate in improving awareness of shelter animals through this campaign," and added, "We hope many companion animals and their owners will continue to enjoy the pet park at The Bukhangang R branch."
