My Own Garden Unfolding in My Hands,

Come to the Exhibition if You're Curious About the Little Companion Tree

The Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo Organizing Committee (Chairman Noh Gwan-gyu, Mayor of Suncheon) will hold the "Little Companion Tree Exhibition" from the 4th to June 18th in the School Garden area located within the Suncheon Bay National Garden.

This exhibition is a special invitational exhibition by artist Moon Chi-ho (from Muan, Jeonnam), who has won numerous awards including the internationally prestigious Japan Bonsaikai Seisui Exhibition. In line with the exhibition theme, "My Own Garden Unfolding in My Hands," about 100 little companion tree works will be displayed.

During the exhibition period, visitors to the Garden Expo can view adorable little companion trees about 10cm in size, wild mountain herb potted plants, and viewing stones inside the natural exhibition hall made of water, viewing stones, and moss.

From traditional companion trees such as Korean pine (Gomsong), juniper (Hyangnamu), and Jangsumae to experimental moss companion trees, visitors will be able to experience the charm of companion trees with various details within a small scale.

Little companion trees are miniature natural landscapes created by planting small trees and flowers in pots, which can be seen as a single ecosystem. Once considered a hobby mainly for retirees in their 50s and 60s, companion trees have recently become a popular hobby among the 20s and 30s, the MZ generation, with new terms such as "Pulmeong" (plant zoning out), "Planterior" (interior design using plants), and "Sikjipsa" (plant caretaker) emerging.

Companion trees have become a common interest across all generations. Visitors stepping into the expo can look forward to companion tree works that capture the ever-changing four seasons and various forms of nature through this exhibition.

The Organizing Committee expects this special exhibition to provide visitors with new energy and sometimes comfort through the appearance of little companion trees, which are small lives filled with vitality.

Chairman Noh Gwan-gyu (Mayor of Suncheon) said, "Gardens are a kind of welfare facility that restores the body and mind of people," adding, "In modern society, we feel emotional stability and relieve daily stress by raising companion plants. I hope this exhibition will be a time for visitors to come to the expo, heal in the open garden, and learn more about companion trees."

Meanwhile, the Organizing Committee plans to hold a "Make Your Own Companion Tree" experience program (limited to 50 people per day on a first-come, first-served basis) over four days on the 11th-12th and 18th-19th within the School Garden where the companion tree exhibition is held.
