Kia announced on the 2nd that it sold 259,524 units in April. This represents an 8.3% increase compared to the previous year. While domestic sales decreased by 1.8% compared to the same period last year, overseas sales increased by 10.9%. The Sportage was the best-selling model with 43,645 units, followed by the Seltos (26,301 units) and Sorento (18,975 units).
The company's domestic sales volume was 49,086 units. The strength of recreational vehicles (RVs) continued, with sales reaching 29,489 units. The best-selling vehicle was also an RV, the Sorento, with 6,835 units sold. It was followed by the Carnival (6,481 units), Sportage (6,282 units), Seltos (4,119 units), and EV6 (2,694 units).
Sedans sold 14,225 units, including 4,158 units of the Ray, 4,011 units of the K8, 2,739 units of the K5, and 2,164 units of the Morning. In the commercial vehicle segment, the Bongo III was the best-seller with 5,258 units, and combined with buses, a total of 5,372 units were sold.
Overseas sales amounted to 209,945 units. The Sportage was the top-selling model overseas with 37,363 units sold. The Seltos followed with 22,182 units, and the K3 (Forte) with 15,156 units. Special sales recorded 228 units domestically and 265 units overseas.
A Kia representative stated, “The semiconductor parts supply disruption is gradually easing, and supply expansion continues with increased production volume. We will continue to improve profitability through quantitative growth accompanied by a mix improvement centered on sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and eco-friendly vehicles. In the second quarter, we plan to further strengthen our electrification lineup and brand value with the successful launch of the EV9.”
