The competition will be held twice, on the 2nd and the upcoming 9th, at the Haehwagwan within the exclusive pier of Mokpo Maritime Police Station and the sea in front of Mokpo Maritime University.
Participants include six teams from six large vessels and three teams from two medium vessels belonging to Mokpo Maritime Police, competing in skills both at sea and on land.
The competition content involves sharing tactics and cases of on-site patrol boat operations such as crackdowns on illegal foreign fishing vessels and maritime search and rescue, with evaluations on emergency treatment, suppression equipment operation, and understanding of high-speed patrol boats conducted on land.
Following this, comprehensive tactics such as S-shaped maneuvers and quick patrol boat operation skills including rescue of drowning persons will be evaluated in urgent situations at sea, such as responding to illegal foreign fishing vessels and rescue scenarios.
A total of two teams selected through this competition (one large vessel team and one medium vessel team) will qualify to participate in the competition hosted by the West Sea Regional Maritime Police Agency scheduled for the 17th.
A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, “We will do our best to improve patrol vessel response capabilities and establish maritime security order through this competition.”
