Professor Kim Giju of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Dongmyung University conducted a capacity-building training session on April 27 at the Busan Basic Academic Skills Support Center for over 40 Hope Bloom teachers to guide them on dyslexia and dyscalculia.
Professor Kim delivered a lecture aimed at enhancing the professional capabilities of Hope Bloom teachers who work on the front lines of learning support, helping them accurately understand the characteristics of not only dyslexia but also dyscalculia.
In the lecture, Professor Kim emphasized that dyslexia requires explicit and systematic reading and writing instruction based on phonological processing skills, while dyscalculia requires interventions based on improving numerical sense using concrete materials.
The Busan Basic Academic Skills Support Center is currently conducting a capacity-building training for Hope Bloom teachers.
