Gochang-gun Opens Youth 1st Street at Seonunsan...Expectations for Local Economic Revitalization

Youth in the Gochang-gun area of Jeonbuk, centered around ‘Cheongnyeon 1beonga’ (Youth First Street), are attracting the eyes and taste buds of tourists visiting Seonunsan, with a steady flow of visitors.

According to the county on the 2nd, ‘Cheongnyeon 1beonga’ is the first youth store to open in Gochang-gun within Seonunsan Provincial Park.

The Gochang-gun Youth Policy Council sells products such as peanut bread, green barley misutgaru (powdered grain drink), flower tea, barley coffee, ice cream, and processed goods produced directly by the youth, all made using agricultural products from Gochang.

Since its opening on the 14th of last month, positive responses from tourists have continued, and based on consumer feedback regarding the sale of various local Gochang products such as bokbunja (Korean black raspberry) beverages and sikhye (sweet rice drink), there are plans to expand the range of products sold in the future.

Youths residing in Cheongnyeon 1beonga, including Chairman Lee Nuri, plan to develop unique Gochang specialty products and beverages targeting local festivals to make it a popular destination for tourists.

Seonunsan is a tourist attraction visited by many tourists every year, and it is expected to see an explosive response with even larger crowds during festivals and tourist seasons when per capita spending increases.

Lee Young-yoon, the county’s New Vitality Economic Policy Officer, said, “We hope that Cheongnyeon 1beonga will emerge as a successful representative case of Gochang, contributing greatly to revitalizing the local economy through mutual growth, including increasing income for local youth, establishing distribution systems, and boosting sales at surrounding stores within Seonunsa.”
