Ulsan Institute of Health and Environment Passes Water Testing and Inspection Proficiency Test

The Ulsan Health and Environment Research Institute received high marks as a ‘water’ testing and inspection institution. This means it has the capability to conduct tests and inspections on water quality and drinking water.

The institute announced on the 2nd that it received a ‘satisfactory’ rating in all categories in the ‘2023 Water Quality and Drinking Water Proficiency Test Evaluation’ conducted by the National Institute of Environmental Research. It also received a ‘suitable’ rating in the institutional evaluation, recognizing its excellent analytical capabilities.

The ‘proficiency test’ is conducted annually under the ‘Act on Environmental Testing and Inspection’ by the National Institute of Environmental Research to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.

If the converted score for each category in the water quality and drinking water proficiency test evaluation is 90 points or higher, the institution is rated as ‘suitable’; if below 90 points, it is rated as ‘unsuitable.’ An institution must receive a ‘suitable’ rating to be recognized as a testing and inspection institution in the water quality and drinking water fields.

Testing and inspection institutions that receive an ‘unsuitable’ rating are prohibited from conducting the relevant tests and inspections from the date they are notified of the rating, in accordance with related laws.

A representative of the institute said, “This year’s proficiency test also recognized our excellent analytical capabilities as a domestic specialized analysis institution. In May, we will participate in an international proficiency program to enhance our status as a global analytical institution.”
