Democratic Party, "Visit to the U.S. Achievements? Beyond 'Empty-Handed Diplomacy' to 'Deceptive Diplomacy'"

"Not the US, but claims of 'nuclear sharing'... A laughable matter"
"Can't even say a word about the eavesdropping issue"

The Democratic Party of Korea criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol, who returned home after his visit to the United States on the 30th, saying, "This U.S. visit ended not just as 'empty-handed diplomacy' but as 'a grand deception diplomacy' against the people."

Kwon Chil-seung, the Democratic Party's chief spokesperson, stated in a written briefing that "right after the summit, when our government claimed it was 'virtually nuclear sharing,' the U.S. side immediately refuted it by saying 'No,'" and pointed out, "The presidential office, caught off guard, resorted to sophistry such as emphasizing 'psychological reassurance' and saying 'it might feel like nuclear sharing.'"

He also criticized, "A new term like 'nuclear sensitivity' might even emerge."

Spokesperson Kwon strongly condemned, "Does it make sense for South Korea to claim it shares U.S. nuclear weapons when the U.S., which possesses nuclear arms, denies it? Who would believe such a claim? It's laughable."

He further said, "President Yoon's claim that the Washington Declaration is more effective than NATO is just an exaggeration misleading public opinion."

He added, "It is hard to understand how the Washington Declaration, which failed to achieve independent nuclear development or redeployment of nuclear weapons on the Korean Peninsula, is more effective in responding to North Korea's nuclear threat than NATO-style nuclear sharing, which is based on tactical nuclear deployment."

He continued, "Nothing has been resolved regarding critical issues affecting the future industries of our economy, such as the Semiconductor Support Act and the Inflation Reduction Act," and criticized, "The government and ruling party should have nothing to say even if they had ten mouths. They should come out of self-anesthesia, overestimation, and misleading public opinion."

Moreover, he emphasized, "The public feels disillusioned seeing the government unable to say a word about the eavesdropping issue and returning with only empty shopping bags," and urged, "The Yoon Suk-yeol administration should face the public's sober evaluation of the outcomes of this Korea-U.S. summit."
