The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 30th that residents can receive a tax credit benefit of 800 to 1,600 KRW per bill if they receive local tax bills via mobile or email instead of paper.
The local tax electronic delivery service is a system that allows users to conveniently and easily check billing details and make payments anytime and anywhere through email or mobile apps instead of paper bills. In particular, it eliminates concerns about lost mail or the inconvenience of not receiving bills due to address changes, and it is safe from the risk of personal information leakage since only the individual can access it.
Seoul has been providing electronic delivery and automatic payment services for tax bills to practice carbon neutrality and ESG management with the goal of "paperless billing" in tax administration and to enhance taxpayer convenience. This year, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 tons, the city designated May to November as the intensive application period for electronic delivery and automatic payment. The city plans to increase the electronic billing issuance rate from 20.9% last year based on regular taxes to 30% by the end of this year.
The electronic delivery and automatic payment services can be applied for through the Seoul tax payment system (ETAX), the mobile tax payment application (STAX), simple payment service apps, or card company apps. On-site applications for electronic delivery can be made at district office tax service counters.
Meanwhile, if residents apply for electronic delivery or automatic payment for resident tax (individual portion), property tax, automobile tax, or registration license tax, they will receive a discount of 800 KRW per bill. If they apply for both electronic delivery and automatic payment, they can receive a tax credit benefit of 1,600 KRW. For application methods or further inquiries, please contact the ETAX customer center at 1566-3900.
