Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has secured 15 billion KRW in national and provincial funding.
Yongin City announced on the 30th that out of 36 public contest projects conducted by central government departments and Gyeonggi Province from January to April, 19 projects were selected.
The major selected projects include ▲ Han River watershed waterfront green space creation project (300 million KRW) ▲ Selection as a pilot area for the second phase of sickness allowance (support amount undecided) ▲ Regional zero-emission vehicle conversion brand project to expand electric vehicle supply (1.8 billion KRW) ▲ Smart tourism city creation project including Museum Park (4.5 billion KRW) ▲ Greenhouse gas reduction practice activity contest project (650 million KRW), among others.
The city added that if the 9 projects currently under review and 2 additional projects being prepared for submission are selected, the scale of external funding secured will increase further.
A city official explained, "This achievement is evaluated to have been greatly influenced by the establishment of strategic response plans for public contest projects and a systematic management system," adding, "In February, Yongin City held a 'Public Contest Project Response Activation Meeting,' discussed strategic response plans, and established a plan to promote active participation in public contest projects."
The city has set a goal to secure more than 60 billion KRW in national and provincial funding this year, surpassing the 55.7 billion KRW secured last year.
