On the 30th, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency announced that they held a kickoff meeting on the 28th at the Gwanggyo Technovalley R&DB Center to promote the 'Gyeonggi Province Future Industry Vision and Strategy Development Study.'
This study was planned and initiated jointly by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency in response to the need for a future industry blueprint at the provincial level amid changes in the industrial paradigm such as the global economic recession, intensified technology hegemony competition centered on domestic countries, and digital transformation.
Through the study, the province plans to analyze industrial technology trends and key regional industries along with internal and external environments to identify future industries, connect them with appropriate regions, and propose execution plans by industry.
Additionally, the study will establish development plans for innovation clusters by region and derive support measures for attracting private investment and easing regulations to promote the cultivation of future industries.
Kang Seong-cheon, President of the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency, emphasized the significance of this policy study, stating, "Considering changes in internal and external environments and the industrial conditions of Gyeonggi Province, existing root industries, textile industries, and furniture industries should be transformed into new industries, and advanced new industries such as semiconductors, future cars, and bio should be intensively fostered."
The province and the agency will prepare concrete strategies and execution plans for fostering future industries by December this year.
Lee Hee-jun, Director of the Economic Investment Office of the province, stated, "Not only fostering new industries but also simultaneously easing regulations and attracting investments should be done to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of Gyeonggi Province's industries."
