Starting from 2 PM on May 3rd... Purchase at 7% discount off the face value, up to 500,000 KRW per person -
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will issue Gangnam Love Gift Certificates worth 15 billion KRW at 2 PM on May 3rd.
Unlike the Lunar New Year and Chuseok Love Gift Certificates issued with combined national and city funds, this local love gift certificate is issued entirely with district funds in celebration of May, the month of family. Last year, the district issued a total of 67.3 billion KRW worth of local love gift certificates, which were very popular among residents, selling out on the day of issuance.
The district aims to promote the local economy by independently issuing gift certificates that benefit both residents and local businesses.
The gift certificates can be purchased at a 7% discount off the face value, up to 500,000 KRW per person per month. Purchases and payments can be made through five apps: ‘Seoul Pay+’, ‘T-money Pay’, ‘Shinhan SOL’, ‘Money Tree’, and ‘Shinhan Play’. They can be purchased in units of 10,000 KRW starting from a minimum of 10,000 KRW, with a maximum purchase limit of 500,000 KRW. Since the maximum holding limit per person is 1,500,000 KRW, buyers should check their remaining limit before purchasing.
The gift certificates can be used at about 20,000 Zero Pay and Seoul Pay registered merchants within the district. However, they cannot be used at large-scale stores, corporate supermarkets, or private academies with annual sales exceeding 1 billion KRW. Merchants can be checked through the ‘Seoul Pay+’ app.
The usage period is five years from the date of purchase, and unused gift certificates can be fully refunded. If more than 60% of the face value has been used, the remaining balance after deducting the discount support fund can be refunded. For more details, please contact the Dasan Call Center.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We hope that the issuance of the Gangnam Love Gift Certificates will help ease the financial burden of residents whose expenses may increase during the month of family. We also expect that local consumption will be revitalized, leading to increased sales for small business owners.”
