Oh Young-sun, Gwangju Nam-gu Council Member, Proposes Ordinance to Prevent and Support Child and Adolescent Sexual Exploitation

The Gwangju Nam-gu Council announced on the 28th that the "Nam-gu Ordinance on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents and Support for Victims," which was proposed by Councilor Oh Young-soon, passed the Social Construction Committee review at the 293rd extraordinary session on the 28th.

With the passage of this ordinance, a basis has been established to support counseling and self-reliance assistance for children and adolescents who are victims of sexual exploitation, dispatch of professional counselors during investigations by investigative agencies, and education and counseling for guardians, teachers, and other related parties.

The ordinance defines the terms related to sexual exploitation of children and adolescents and victims thereof, and includes key provisions regarding prevention of sexual exploitation and support projects for victims.

Councilor Oh stated, "I hope to protect the human rights of children and adolescents and enable them to grow up healthily in a safe environment," explaining the reason for enacting the ordinance.

Meanwhile, the ordinance is scheduled to be enacted through deliberation and resolution at the 4th plenary session of the 293rd Nam-gu Council extraordinary session to be held on May 4.
