On the 28th, Gyeongbuk Province signed a business agreement with Korea Seven, the leading convenience store operator, at the provincial government conference room. The ceremony was attended by Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, Choi Kyung-ho, CEO of Korea Seven, Bae Yong-gyu, head of Dongandong Nonghyup, and other related officials and organizations.
This business agreement was made to mutually cooperate in selling various fruits from Gyeongbuk, the largest fruit-producing region in the country, in small packaged cup fruit form through approximately 14,000 Seven Eleven stores nationwide, and to expand the product lineup.

To make the cup fruits more approachable for children, packaging designs featuring popular characters Hello Kitty and My Melody from Sanrio, a character specialist company, will be developed and applied, which is expected to receive great customer response.
Prior to this agreement, about 100 million KRW in sales were generated from five types of cup fruit products sold on a trial basis for three weeks starting in early April. This is regarded as a good example of B2B direct transaction distribution, where high-quality fresh agricultural products are primarily processed at the production site and supplied through the company’s distribution network.
Gyeongbuk Province and Korea Seven are actively discussing expanding the supply items beyond the existing five types of cup fruits, including apples, cherry tomatoes, and grapes, to seasonal fruits such as plums, watermelons, peaches, as well as holiday gift sets.
Korea Seven is the leading operator of convenience stores (Seven Eleven, Ministop) with about 14,000 stores nationwide. Last year, its sales reached 5.5 trillion KRW, making it one of the top three major distribution chains in South Korea.
Additionally, Korea Seven is promoting plastic recycling projects in collaboration with companies utilizing waste plastics at logistics centers and is known for leading ESG management, being the only domestic distributor awarded the Minister’s Commendation for Promoting Employment of Persons with Disabilities.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo of Gyeongbuk Province said, “I consider it meaningful that through this agreement, the excellence of Gyeongbuk agricultural products can be promoted nationwide via Korea Seven’s distribution chain. Distribution companies will design products needed by consumers through their nationwide networks, and production sites will directly supply fresh and high-quality agricultural products to expand a direct transaction distribution system that enhances consumer satisfaction.”
