Final Approval of 60.6 Billion KRW for Chilwon Living Zone Project

Haman-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has signed a Rural Agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

At the signing ceremony held on the 26th at the Government Sejong Convention Center, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, local governments, and Korea Rural Community Corporation attended, where the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Mayor of Haman-gun finalized their signatures on the agreement.

The Rural Agreement is a rural spatial strategy plan, a long-term development plan for Haman-gun led by local governments and residents, focusing on the priority living area (Chilwon Living Area). It is a system introduced in 2020 that enables the central and local governments to concentrate investments through agreements with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to achieve common rural policy goals by revitalizing rural living areas.

Since August 2020, the county has signed a business agreement with the Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of Korea Rural Community Corporation and started establishing the rural spatial strategy plan and rural living area revitalization plan, which was finally selected in June 2022.

Over five years until 2027, approximately 60.6 billion KRW will be invested according to the Chilwon Living Area revitalization plan to implement rural development and maintenance projects such as the rural central area revitalization project (Chilwon-eup), basic living base creation projects (Daesan-myeon, Chilseo-myeon), rural spatial maintenance projects (Chilseo-myeon, Chilbuk-myeon), and vulnerable area living condition improvement projects (Chilbuk-myeon).

The Chilwon-eup central area revitalization project includes the creation of an administrative complex town linked with the construction of a new town hall. This Rural Agreement signing has accelerated efforts to establish the complex town. Through the rural spatial maintenance projects selected as part of the Rural Agreement (Iryong District in Chilseo-myeon, Hwacheon District in Chilbuk-myeon), it is expected that residents’ discomfort caused by odors will be significantly alleviated.
