Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, Continued Operation of Gori Units 3 and 4 ... Draft Radiation Environmental Impact Assessment Quiz Event

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters will hold a quiz event to enhance residents' participation and understanding during the public review period (April 13 to May 23, 2023) of the draft Radiation Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the continued operation of Gori Units 3 and 4.


This event, running until the 23rd of next month, will be conducted both offline and online.

First, residents can visit the public review locations in the basic local governments subject to opinion collection (city, district, county offices, administrative welfare centers, etc., totaling 206 locations), review the draft, and participate in the quiz event. The first 8,000 participants will receive local specialty products as prizes.


Participation is also possible online. By accessing the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters website and reviewing the draft assessment report and explanatory materials posted in the announcements section, residents can join the event.


Among the event participants, 2,000 people will be selected by lottery to receive gifticon prizes.


In addition to this event, the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters is encouraging citizen participation through various promotional activities such as broadcasting subtitles on local TV, advertisements on public transportation (city buses/subways), wrapped bus promotions, banners and X banners around the public review locations, and internet banner advertisements.


Lee Gwang-hoon, head of the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, stated, “The continued operation of Gori Units 2, 3, and 4 is essential for establishing South Korea’s energy security and achieving carbon neutrality through greenhouse gas reduction. We hope this quiz event will increase residents’ interest and understanding of the draft Radiation Environmental Impact Assessment Report for Gori Units 3 and 4, and we will strive to coexist with the local community throughout the project process.”
