On the 28th, BMW Group Korea announced that it held a completion ceremony for the BMW Apprentice Program dedicated training center in collaboration with Ajou Motor College the previous day.
The BMW Apprentice Program is BMW Group Korea's representative industry-academia cooperation program aimed at nurturing specialized automotive technicians.
The ceremony was attended by Kim Yeontae, General Manager of BMW Group Korea Training Academy, Lee Suhoon, President of Ajou Motor College, along with faculty members and over 60 enrolled students.
The training center was established on a total area of 553㎡ across two floors within Ajou Motor College. The first floor features a practical training area with four work bays and a multipurpose lounge with 40 seats. A large LED display is installed to enable role-play training. The second floor consists of a large lecture hall with 90 seats.
Since the first semester of this year, special classes have been conducted for second-year students at Ajou Motor College. After completing the first semester curriculum, students selected to participate in the program are given the opportunity to work at official dealers.
Kim said, “We are pleased to be able to directly and indirectly transfer BMW Group Korea’s latest maintenance technology, accumulated through long-standing know-how, to Ajou Motor College students,” adding, “We will do our utmost to discover and nurture more technical talents for the sustainable future of the Korean automotive industry.”
Since 2004, BMW Korea has selected participants from graduating students nationwide in automotive departments to provide internship opportunities through the program. It supports employment at official BMW dealers after completion. Currently, it collaborates with 31 universities, and up to last year, a total of 1,546 students have completed the program and joined dealer companies.
