A man in his 50s who stabbed a passerby in the back with a weapon and fled was arrested by the police.
According to the police on the 28th, the Goyang Police Station in Gyeonggi announced that they arrested Mr. A (58, male) on the 27th at around 9:45 PM on charges of attempted murder, robbery, and assault.
Mr. A is accused of threatening a man with a sashimi knife at a fishing store in Hwajeon-dong at 8:53 PM that day, then stabbing Mr. B (47, male), who was standing on the street, in the back six minutes later, and also assaulting Mr. C (51, male), a companion of Mr. B, with his fists. It is known that Mr. A and Mr. B were strangers to each other.
Immediately after the crime, Mr. A struggled with Mr. B and his group and fled on foot toward Susaek-dong. The police, who tracked Mr. A following a report from Mr. B’s group, urgently arrested him in Susaek-dong at around 9:45 PM. It was confirmed that Mr. B was holding a metal pipe at the time of the arrest.
Mr. B, who was taken to the hospital, is reported to be in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A.
