Room of US classified information leak soldier revealed... Multiple firearms and gas mask next to bed

On SNS, a post expressing "I want to kill people" sentiment

A soldier who leaked classified U.S. government documents was found to possess a large number of firearms at his home and had posted messages on social networking services (SNS) expressing a desire to "kill people."

According to the Associated Press on the 27th (local time), the federal prosecutors in Massachusetts submitted a memorandum containing such information during a detention extension hearing for Airman Jack Douglas Teseira (21) of the Massachusetts Air National Guard at the federal district court held that day.

The prosecution stated that since November last year, Teseira had posted on SNS messages such as "If I can, I will kill many people to eliminate idiots."

It was also noted that during high school, Teseira was suspended after a classmate overheard him talking about Molotov cocktails, other weapons, and racially hateful threats.

The prosecution further revealed that Teseira kept pistols, rifles, shotguns, high-performance firearms styled like AK rifles, and gas masks in a storage box near his bed. Bullets, silencers, and military helmets were also found at his residence.

Nadine Pellegrini, head of the National Security Investigation Division of the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney's Office, cited this as evidence that "the defendant's threatening words and actions were not mere speculation or exaggeration," presenting serious threats to national security and flight risk as reasons for extending detention.

However, the defense requested Teseira's release, suggesting alternative measures such as house arrest at his father's residence.

The defense argued, "The claim that an enemy nation would entice Teseira to secretly escape from the U.S. is mere speculation." The defense also claimed that the defendant did not know that classified information would spread on the internet. However, Judge David Hennessy dismissed this, saying, "Would a person under thirty really not know that something posted on the internet could spread elsewhere?"

Judge Hennessy postponed the decision on the prosecution's request to keep Teseira detained until the formal trial. It has not yet been decided whether an additional hearing will be held to discuss this issue or if a written order will be issued.

Teseira was indicted on charges including unauthorized possession and transmission of defense information under the Counterintelligence Act, unauthorized removal and possession of classified documents, after leaking numerous Department of Defense classified documents in a Discord chat room he operated.
