The '2023 Yecheon Bow Festival,' the nation's largest experiential representative festival, will be held from May 4 to 7 at the Hancheon Sports Park area in Yecheon-gun, Gyeongbuk.
Held for the first time in four years under the theme "K-Culture, the Root of Bow Culture," this festival offers various contents and unique experiences using the bow that can only be enjoyed in Yecheon.
The opening ceremony on the first day of the festival will kick off with a performance by Kim Je-deok, a national archery team member from Yecheon County Office, opening the festival in a spectacular way. Celebratory performances by Na Tae-joo, Koyote, Harmonize, and a fireworks show will raise the festival's excitement.
On the second day, May 5, Children's Day, puppet shows, magic, and bubble shows will be held for children, along with the Korean Traditional Music Festival and the Yecheon National Song Festival. On May 6, targeting the youth, there will be the Seoha Writing Contest and a youth dance competition, followed by a chicken and beer festival and a DJ dance party in the evening to boost the festival's energy.
The final day will be dedicated to middle-aged and elderly audiences with the Yecheon Gugak Festival and the Nakdong 7 Sceneries Cultural Event featuring famous singers such as Park Hyun-bin and Jung Mi-ae, bringing the grand finale to a close.
Additionally, during the festival, a bow culture exhibition and experience center will operate, showcasing demonstrations of bow and arrow making by intangible cultural heritage holders Kim Seong-rak, a master bowyer, and Kim Byung-wook, a master bow craftsman, as well as a world bow exhibition to promote the history and tradition of the bow.
There will also be experiences for all ages, including traditional Korean archery (Gukgung), target archery, bow survival games, and field archery. To accommodate family tourists during the Children's Day holiday, various experiential events such as Kizania job experiences, boat rides, water play areas, air bounce playgrounds, and bow playgrounds will be available.
A 'Delivery Yecheon' rest area will be set up within the festival grounds, allowing tourists to order food from local restaurants for delivery, promoting the revitalization of the local economy. Experience and sales booths will also be operated, where visitors can purchase fresh agricultural and specialty products produced in Yecheon, contributing to increased farm income.
Special events are also prepared, such as a 1,000 KRW discount on admission to the Yecheon Insect Ecology Center, a 3,000 KRW discount on daytime experiences at the Yecheon Astronomy Center, and a free Americano for the first 50 visitors daily at the Yecheon Museum, for those who visit the festival and post certification on SNS.
County Governor Kim Hak-dong said, "The 2023 Yecheon Bow Festival, held for the first time in four years since COVID-19, has prepared diverse contents and experiential programs that showcase Yecheon's unique bow traditions and history, so families can laugh, enjoy, and create special memories together. We hope you visit Yecheon County during this Children's Day holiday."
By purchasing a 5,000 KRW experience ticket for the '2023 Yecheon Bow Festival,' visitors can enjoy the exhibition hall, bow experiences, boat rides, and more, and will also receive coupons worth about 4,000 KRW usable within the county.
