On the 27th, Pohang City signed a business agreement with KEPCO MCS Pohang Branch and Korea Electric Power Corporation Pohang Branch to establish a cooperative system for discovering and supporting welfare blind spots.

원본보기 아이콘Under this agreement, KEPCO and KEPCO MCS will promptly notify the city if they discover households suspected of being in crisis situations such as long-term electricity bill arrears, power disconnection, or risk of solitary death during home visits for electricity usage meter reading.
The city will provide customized welfare services through on-site investigations of the identified crisis households.
Additionally, KEPCO MCS Pohang Branch and Korea Electric Power Corporation Pohang Branch will utilize their in-house volunteer groups to replace old lighting in vulnerable and crisis households in the region with high-efficiency LED lights, conduct electrical facility safety inspections such as detecting electrical leakage risks within homes, and Pohang City will actively participate in promoting the energy basic right electricity bill real-name system, thereby strengthening mutual cooperation.
Choi Myunghwan, Director of the Welfare Bureau, stated, “The participation of workers in close-contact occupations is essential to solve social issues such as welfare blind spots and solitary deaths,” and added, “Let us join forces to timely discover those in need and protect crisis households left in welfare blind spots.”
