Encouraging Social Workers Dedicated to Citizen Welfare

On the 27th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '11th Changwon City Social Workers Conference' at the Citizen Hall, hosted by the Changwon City Social Workers Association.


The event was organized to boost the morale and pride of social workers dedicated to enhancing citizens' welfare and to redefine the status and role of social workers.

The event included a social workers' oath, commendations for meritorious service, congratulatory speeches, and a donation ceremony. Seo Su-jeong, director of the Gyeongsangnam-do Elderly Protection Agency, received the Changwon City Social Worker Award for contributions to promoting elderly human rights, with a total of 16 individuals honored.


Starting this year, the city has introduced customized welfare points, long-term service sabbaticals, and childcare leave systems to help social welfare facility workers balance work and rest, along with various welfare benefits such as support for accident insurance premiums.


Lee Seong-bae, president of the Changwon City Social Workers Association, stated, “We will do our best to enhance the professionalism of social workers and create a platform where social workers can participate and communicate together to improve their welfare.”


Ha Jong-mok, the first deputy mayor, said, “We appreciate the dedication of social workers who silently serve on the front lines of welfare, and we will do our best to ensure they can work with pride and fulfillment through improving their rights and working conditions.”
