Chungnam "Gongju History and Cultural Resources Utilized to Create 'Baekje Culture Village'"

Chungnam Province is creating the ‘Baekje Culture Village’ by utilizing the historical and cultural resources of the Gongju area.

On the 27th, the province announced that it will invest 200 billion KRW from this year until 2030 to develop the Baekje Culture Village as a complex, stay-type tourism destination combining history, culture, and arts.

The Baekje Culture Village will include the Baekje Royal Culture Village (royal experience lodging facilities), Ungjin Myth Museum, Geumgang Scenic Skywalk, Ungjin Memory Food Experience District, Geumgang Mireu Island Historical Landscape, Seoksu Sculpture, Hanok Complex Cultural Condo, Baekje Culture Staycation, and Chungcheong Traditional Music Hall.

Gongju City began the basic planning service last October to create the Baekje Culture Village, and after a mid-term report this month, plans to finalize the project plan in August and proceed with the project.

The Baekje Culture Village is being promoted as part of the ‘Baekje Culture Complex and Experience Village Creation’ project, a campaign pledge of the 8th local government administration.

The Baekje Culture Complex and Experience Village Creation project aims to invest 500 billion KRW by 2030 to establish a tourism hub in the Baekje cultural zone by linking major tourist sites and facilities, as well as traditional food experiences, in Gongju, Buyeo, Cheongyang, and other areas.

Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam Province, said, “Gongju, as the ancient capital of Baekje, possesses various historical and cultural resources, and it is necessary to create tourism demand by utilizing them. We will strive to develop Gongju into a city where history, culture, and modernity live and breathe.”
