CJ OnStyle announced on the 27th that it held the 'Jeongdo (正道) Broadcasting Declaration Ceremony' on the 26th at the CJ ENM Bangbae-dong headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The declaration ceremony was held to recognize the seriousness of the recent series of compliance violations in the home shopping industry and to prepare proactive countermeasures.

About 30 people attended the ceremony, including Yoon Sang-hyun, CEO of CJ OnStyle; Ahn Dae-cheon, Chairman of the CJ ENM Commerce Division Viewer Committee; Kwak Kyu-tae, editorial board member of the Korean Media Management Association and professor at Soonchunhyang University; as well as CJ OnStyle PDs, MDs, and compliance staff who are on the front lines of consumer contact.


At the ceremony, policies to strengthen compliance education for essential broadcasting personnel such as PDs, MDs, and show hosts and to advance the Jeongdo broadcasting system were announced. The 'Jeongdo Broadcasting Committee' will be regularized quarterly to actively disseminate recent industry compliance trends, and the advisory function of the CJ OnStyle Viewer Committee will be expanded to actively listen to the opinions of various stakeholders. A compliance history management system will be established, and mobile live commerce compliance standards will also be set to strengthen public responsibility as a broadcasting operator. CJ OnStyle aims to build customer trust through 'basic diligence' and 'securing competitiveness based on trust.'


Participants of the declaration ceremony also took a pledge to practice Jeongdo broadcasting, including ▲providing accurate product information and producing truthful sales broadcasts ▲strictly complying with relevant laws and regulations without compromising with wrongful practices ▲using proper broadcasting language and respecting customers' ethical and emotional sentiments. Kim Sung-eun, a show host who has been active at CJ OnStyle for over 27 years, said, "All show hosts at CJ OnStyle, including external guests, will take the lead in self-regulation efforts in broadcasting and create broadcasts that can be trusted by customers."


Professor Kwak Kyu-tae, who participated in the ceremony, emphasized, "Although home shopping faces a difficult environment as a broadcasting operator, we must do our best to create dignified broadcasts with a strong sense of responsibility for the public nature and public interest of broadcasting."


Kim Hee-jin, Head of Service Innovation at CJ OnStyle, said, "The Jeongdo Broadcasting Declaration Ceremony was organized to declare CJ OnStyle's commitment to implementing accurate and truthful broadcasting and to cultivate employees' awareness of compliance," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that the declaration does not remain a mere statement."
