Gwangju Seobu Fire Station announced on the 27th that it conducted a joint fire drill on the 26th at EcoBit Energy Myeongseong in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, to prevent the recurring fires at resource recycling facilities and to respond swiftly.
This joint fire drill was initiated due to the need to cultivate on-site disaster response capabilities for resource recycling facilities following a fire that occurred on February 27 at a resource recycling-related facility in Seo-gu, as well as to strengthen the response capabilities for frequently occurring facility fires.
The drill was conducted with 43 personnel, including firefighters and EcoBit officials, and six pieces of equipment. The main training contents included ▲reporting and evacuation by related personnel and initial fire suppression training ▲securing fire lanes for rapid dispatch ▲securing firefighting water and fire suppression training anticipating long-term waste combustion ▲and efficient fire suppression tactical plans.
A fire official stated, "We plan to continuously conduct fire safety inspections of resource recycling facilities in the jurisdiction and regularly carry out fire drills for related personnel. We also ask that waste be stored separately to prevent fire spread in case of fire occurrence."
