Lee Won-wook, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea classified as part of the Bi-myeong (Bi Lee Jae-myeong) faction, strongly criticized Min Hyung-bae's reinstatement on the 27th, saying, "Reinstatement without justification is an evasion of responsibility," and added, "The pride of the Democratic Party has fallen."
On the same day, Lee posted on his Facebook account under the title "I am ashamed of the Democratic Party," stating, "(The Democratic Party) pushed for Min Hyung-bae's reinstatement without even minimal discussion," and questioned, "They even attached an explanation that it was a responsible attitude. Responsible for what?"
Lee pointed out, "Among moral, political, and legal responsibilities, the responsibilities that politicians should bear more heavily are moral and political responsibilities," and said, "Reinstatement without justification is not a responsible attitude but rather an evasion of responsibility."
He continued, "Shouldn't there at least be discussions with the members of the National Assembly?" and criticized, "If it is such a simple matter to be decided at a closed supreme council meeting, what was the reason for delaying the reinstatement until now?" He also questioned, "Was an event needed for the floor leader's finale?"
The announcement of Min's reinstatement came from Floor Leader Park Hong-geun on the 26th, one day before his term expired. During last year's 'Kyeomsu Wanbak' (complete repeal of prosecution investigation powers) legislative process, Min left the Democratic Party and, as an independent, joined the agenda adjustment committee and voted in favor of the Kyeomsu Wanbak bill. This led to criticism from the ruling party, calling it a 'trick resignation' and 'disguised resignation.' Last month, the Constitutional Court ruled that while the legislation of Kyeomsu Wanbak was valid, Min's resignation was illegal.
Lee said, "In front of the shameful self-portrait of the Democratic Party in 2023, President Yoon Seok-youl, who is also irresponsible, lowers the national dignity with irrational politics and threatens the lives of the people," and added, "In the face of such irrationality, the people are ashamed, and the pride of the Democratic Party has fallen." He said, "Even the Democratic Party should be a party that practices common sense politics," and concluded, "The shrunken Democratic Party, let's stop now."
